LPG installers and system makers
An LPG conversion has two sides: the makers of the systems and the workshops that fit them (installers). The two should match.
Well-known system makers
The overview below lists well-known brands. It is not a ranking and not a complete directory.
| Maker | Short description |
|---|---|
| Prins | Dutch maker, known for systems with gaseous injection (VSI) and systems for direct-injection engines. |
| Vialle | Dutch maker, known for its LPi technology with liquid injection of the gas. |
| BRC | Italian brand with a broad range, now part of Westport Fuel Systems. |
| Landi Renzo | Italian group, one of the big suppliers of gas systems, also for original equipment makers. |
| KME | Italian maker with systems for different engine types. |
| Stag | Polish brand, widespread in central and eastern Europe. |
| Zavoli, AEB, Lovato, OMVL | Other Italian suppliers, some focused on particular markets. |
Which system suits your car depends on the engine. There are different systems for naturally aspirated, turbo and direct-injection engines. Do not rely on the brand name alone, but on the workshop's experience with exactly your engine.
What to look for in a workshop
- Experience with your vehicle type: ask for references for the same model and engine.
- Fixed-price quote: in writing, listing all services.
- Approved components: system and tank must carry the required approval (ECE mark).
- Approval and registration: should be handled by the installer.
- Warranty and service: who maintains the system later, and what applies if there are problems?
- Location: a workshop nearby is handy for setup and maintenance.
Process and costs
How a conversion works and what it costs is described in LPG conversion. Whether it is worth it for you is shown by the payback calculator (in German).
